It is important to remember that in squaring a negative number, the negative must be inside of parentheses. Notice the difference between and as entered below:

Warning: When the x squared key is pressed, only the power appears on the screen. In order to enter , first press 2, then press x squared .

Other exponents may be entered using the ^ key. For example, is entered as:
