In order to see the effects of a ZOOM option,
a graph must already be displayed on the screen. To learn how to
enter and graph a function, go to Graphing
a Function . For example, the function
=
is graphed
below.
The ZOOM 5:ZSquare option allows the user to select a new VIEWING RECTANGLE by changing only one direction, which make objects like circles appear as circles and not eggs. In this case the standard VIEWING RECTANGLE [-10,10,1] X [-10,10,1] is changed to approximately [-16.1,16.1,1] X [-10,10,1]. This compensates for the viewing screen being wider than it is tall, thus making a unit in the X direction equal to a unit in the Y direction. That is, the calculator "squares" the VIEWING RECTANGLE.
To select the ZOOM 5:ZSquare option, first press the ZOOM key, and then select 5.
